Region 7 continued its preparations for the 2007 competitive season at the second annual High Performance Camp held at Parkettes, October 21 and 22, 2006. The goal of this camp was to unite and build upon the talent in Region 7 for the upcoming season. Level 9 and 10 gymnasts who qualified to nationals in the 2006 season (and alternates) and their coaches were invited to work with a group of Region 7’s most experienced coaches and judges. 98 gymnasts and close to 100 coaches and judges attended. The clinic was, once again, a huge success and truly an example of how well our region works together as a team.
The highlight for the gymnasts was the rotation of teambuilding activities which ignited the energy that built throughout the weekend. The spirit of Region 7 was, once again, redefined! There was even much improvement from the coaches this year on “Region 7 trivia” during the coaches’ contests!! Many thanks to all that attended—you were instrumental to the success of the event!

A special thanks to …an outstanding panel of Master Clinicians: Tony Gehman, Lori Dexter, Kelli Hill, Gustavo Moure, Tani Blaunt, Robin Netwall, Natalia Shaposhnikova, Bob Ouellette, Craig Tetreault, Larisa Firestone and Toby Towson; to all of the judges who donated their time and really helped our athletes and coaches with feedback, support and collaboration… to the Parkettes for the use of their facility, and Julie Emerick for her work and support before and during the event…Lynn Perrott and Myra Elfenbein for their hard work and support in pulling this event off…and many others! Most of all, thanks to the gymnasts and coaches for their support and commitment to Region 7.
This camp helped to raise funds for an “All-Star” team of Level 10’s that will represent Region 7 in a competition in 2008. This also provided an opportunity for our 2006 All-Star Team to train together before heading off to the 2007 Cancun Classic. We all wish them the best of luck at the meet…show your Region 7 pride and spirit!
I’ll see you in 2007….Go Region 7!
